Tony May
Good grief, I'm going to need a pile of these to outfit the Soviet fighters of the Great Patriotic War in my collection. I'll be replacing all the Soviet fighters on my shelves eventually & looking at their wheels there's no question that the older manufacturers didn't pay much attention to such subtle details. The wheels of the two "Clear Prop!" La-5 kits are the only ones that actually look the part! (Though I'm not a fan of wheels being molded in two halves.) I had hoped the KP kits would've been a bit more on top of things but it was wishful thinking. Even the Eduard La-7 doesn't seem to have put much attention on the wheels. The Eduard La-7 & the brand new Armory MiG-3 both are impressive but the tires appear to be "balloon" types. I haven't found any photos of either types with tires lacking tread?
